Ki, the Energy of Breath
Dynamic Circulation
In this workshop, you will explore the connection between breath and movement to generate Ki energy. Through dynamic exercises, you will become familiar with a practice that uses the body as a vehicle to let energy flow in a harmonious rhythm between physical movement and breathing.
As Master Nishino explains, the term Ki, according to ancient Japanese tradition, represents vital energy. In the Japanese language, the characters for “to live” and “to breathe” are pronounced the same: iki. In other words, to live means to breathe. Repeating the ideogram iki creates the expression iki-iki, which means lively or energetic, and literally refers to very active breathing. Cultivating Ki through breath is therefore a way of nurturing vital energy.
The Yagō Association, based in the Lugano region, was founded to promote the ancient Eastern teachings of breath. Yag/i>ō is a historical Japanese term referring to a “House of Practice”—a privileged place to share a discipline or an art, in the traditional sense.
