From Battlefield to Board Game
History Comes Alive with Philippe Hardy
Evento annullato
An industrial consultant by profession and a historian by passion, Philippe Hardy is a leading figure in the world of historical wargaming.
Specializing in the study of the 15th to 17th centuries, he is the founder of SERIOUS HISTORICAL GAMES, a project dedicated to the creation of historically rigorous and engaging board games.
His name appears on more than twenty titles published by France’s most renowned publishers in the genre: VaeVictis (with 16 games), Hexasim (2 titles), and Ludifolie(1 title), with settings ranging from European battlefields to the distant lands of feudal Asia.
In his talk, Hardy will offer the audience a detailed overview of the historical research and reconstruction processes behind his games. He will focus specifically on Renaissance Japan, discussing the challenges of gathering and verifying sources, estimating missing data, and translating complex events into game mechanics that are functional, well-balanced, and true to the historical context.
