Drums of the Rising Sun

A Taiko Concert between Tradition and Contemporary Rhythm

Taiko Zurich invites you to an immersive and thrilling sonic experience, where the ancestral power of Japanese drums meets the vibrant energy of traditional festivals and the creative freedom of the contemporary scene.

Their repertoire ranges from the pulsating sounds of matsuri—Japan’s popular celebrations—to modern compositions by artists such as Kenny Endo, Kaoly Asano, and Taiko Bastards, who have redefined the language of Taiko by blending influences from Japan, the United States, Europe, and beyond.

On stage, spectacular choreographies and explosive rhythms merge with intimate melodic moments, entrusted to the delicate notes of the shinobue (the Japanese bamboo flute), alternating with playful and light-hearted passages. Their powerful and dynamic style is often described as the very essence of festive Taiko: collective, accessible, and irresistibly engaging.

With this vision, Taiko Zurich has established itself as one of the most original and active groups on the Swiss scene, turning every drumbeat into an invitation to feel the rhythm within your body, let go, and live together a celebration that bridges tradition and future.
