Contest Rules

Organiser

The promotional contest is organised by Japan Matsuri as part of the 2026 edition of the festival, which will take place on Saturday, 19 and Sunday, 20 September 2026.

As part of Japan Matsuri 2026, the organiser is running a promotional contest linked to the sale of the official Japan Matsuri keychain, created by Officine di Giacopo as a limited and individually numbered edition.

Entry into the draw is included with the purchase of the keychain and does not involve any additional cost.

Entry to the contest will be possible during Japan Matsuri 2026, from the opening of the festival on Saturday, 19 September 2026 until entries close prior to the draw on Sunday, 20 September 2026.

Entries may close earlier if the available keychains sell out.

To enter the contest, participants must visit the Japan Matsuri Info Point and purchase an official limited-edition, individually numbered Japan Matsuri keychainfor CHF 22.–.

The purchase of the keychain entitles the purchaser to enter the draw at no additional cost.

The unique identification number of the purchased keychain will be registered among the numbers eligible for the draw.

Participants must retain the original keychain until the draw has been completed.

The prize consists of one (1) print signed by Yumiko Igarashi.

The prize cannot be exchanged for cash or, at the winner’s request, replaced with any other goods or services.

The draw will take place on Sunday, 20 September 2026, at approximately 4:15 pm, on the Japan Matsuri stage during the Cosplay Contest intermission.

One of the numbers corresponding to the keychains duly purchased and registered for entry into the contest will be selected at random.

The stated time of the draw is approximate and may be subject to change depending on the progress of the festival programme.

To be eligible to receive the prize, participants must be present at the time of the draw.

After the winning number has been announced, its holder must report to the event staff and present the original keychain bearing the winning number.

Possession of the original keychain bearing the number drawn constitutes the proof required for the prize to be awarded.

If the holder of the number drawn:

  • is not present at the time of the draw
  • does not come forward after the number is called
  • is unable to present the corresponding original keychain

they will forfeit their right to the prize and a new number will be drawn immediately.

This procedure will be repeated until a winner is identified who is present and able to present the original keychain corresponding to the number drawn.

The prize will not be shipped or held for collection at a later date.

Before the prize is awarded, the event staff will verify that the number drawn matches the number on the original keychain presented by the participant.

Once the verification has been completed, the prize will be presented directly to the winner during the festival.

Upon presentation of the prize to the winner, the awarding process will be considered complete.

Participants are responsible for keeping the numbered keychain until the draw has been completed.

If the keychain is lost, the prize cannot be claimed solely on the basis of a purchase receipt, photographs, or any other reproductions of the keychain.

If the identification number is illegible or it is not possible to verify with certainty that it matches the number drawn, the prize cannot be awarded and a new number will be drawn.

The official Japan Matsuri keychains created by Officine di Giacopo are available as a limited and individually numbered edition.

Once the available keychains have sold out, no further entries into the contest will be possible.

In the event of unforeseen circumstances, force majeure, or organisational requirements, Japan Matsuri reserves the right to change the time of the draw.

Any changes will be announced during the festival.

Participation in the contest constitutes acceptance of these rules.

The rules will be available on the Japan Matsuri website and at the Info Point during the festival.
