SANBIKI — Taiko Ecosystem
This concert-performance unfolds as a continuous flow of musical pieces and soundscapes that highlight the many voices of Japanese drums and their rich tonal possibilities. Traditional and contemporary repertoire intertwines with numerous original compositions, where sound becomes gesture, rhythm shapes the space, and timbre transforms it into evocative sonic landscapes.
Vibrations, tension, and movement create an immersive sensory experience for the audience. The music takes on a tribal character, while echoes and resonances evoke the presence of fantastical creatures from Japanese folklore.
Sanbiki (No Taiko Uchi) is a project founded in 2018 by Chiara Codetta, Tobia Galimberti, and Samuele Galimberti. Bringing together three distinct artistic backgrounds, the group shares a common taiko practice developed through collaborations with international taiko masters. Their work moves between tradition and experimentation, exploring taiko as a contemporary artistic language that offers new perspectives on Japanese culture while creating new connections between body, sound, and space.
