Vegan Kyaraben
the Art of Japanese Bento
In this hands-on workshop, participants will discover the art of kyaraben (character bento), the Japanese tradition that turns lunch into a small edible work of art.
Together, we will create a fully plant-based bento inspired by beloved characters from Japanese culture and animation. Starting from simple, natural ingredients, we will learn creative techniques to shape rice, craft decorative details, and compose a balanced, colorful, and fun meal.
During the workshop, we will cover:
- Introduction to Japanese bento culture
- Principles of composition and visual harmony
- Techniques for shaping rice and creating characters
- Use of vegetables, seaweed, and plant-based ingredients for decoration
- Creation of three-dimensional elements and expressive details
- Final assembly of the bento
Each participant will create their own personalized bento to take home, gaining ideas and techniques that can easily be replicated in everyday life.
An experience suitable for both adults and teenagers, designed to combine creativity, plant-based cooking, and Japanese culture in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
