The Tōhoku region, in northern Japan, remains one of the country's best-kept secrets. Rich in breathtaking landscapes and deeply rooted traditions, it is a place where nature, local communities and cultural heritage remain closely intertwined. Shaped by a harsh climate and the rhythm of the seasons, Tōhoku has developed an extraordinary culinary tradition in which fermentation plays a central role.
In this talk, I'll take you on a journey through the history, cuisine and culinary heritage of Tōhoku. The experience will be enriched by a tasting of artisanal miso and soy sauce, offering a unique opportunity to discover the flavours, aromas and traditions of one of Japan's most authentic regions.
About Miyako
Miyako (@miyakonbu_tokyo) is Italian-Japanese and grew up in Tokyo. Through her work on social media, she shares an authentic and personal perspective on Japanese culture and everyday life.

Driven by her lifelong dream of building a bridge between Italy and Japan, she founded musubu —a Japanese word meaning "to connect"—a project created to introduce small producers and artisans from northern Japan to Italian-speaking audiences.
Through musubu, Miyako hopes to share not only their products, but also their stories, craftsmanship and passion, fostering genuine cultural connections while showcasing the traditions and beauty of northern Japan.
